Colour Measurement

Colour is an important indicator of product quality and processing performance: it can be used to check on the contamination or the degradation of a product, to inspect materials and to control their refining process and to confirm the compliance with customer’s specifications or predetermined colour tolerances.
The most commonly used instruments for measuring colour are spectrophotometers: their technology consists in measuring reflected or transmitted light at many points on the visual spectrum resulting in a curve. The curve of each colour is unique.

European Technology is the sole Approved Service Centre for Lovibond® apparatus here in Italy. 

ATTENTION! The colour scales used by an instrument to express the results of an analysis are the crucial characteristics to take into account, in order to choose one specific model of spectrophotometer. In fact they define the industrial sector in which a specific model can be used.

European Technology trades the following apparatus for colour measurement:


Lovibond PFX 995/P, automatic spectrophotometer

Applications: petroleum fuels, mineral oils, waxes and petrochemicals
Color scales: Saybolt Colour, ASTM Colour, Platinum-cobalt, Lovibond® RYBN, IP Units, Gardner Colour, CIE values, Spectral data

An easy to use, automatic instrument. It provides objective, unbiased colour analysis according to a wide range of scales, although the user can display only the scales of interest. To start the analysis the user must only press a single key. The test is completed within less than 25 seconds. Remote control of the instrument, if needed.

Lovibond PFX 950, automatic spectrophotometer

Applications: oli commestibili e derivati, oli industriali e derivati, agenti chimici e derivati
Colour scales: AOCS-Tintometer ®, Lovibond® RYBN, IP units, Gardner colour, CIE values, Spectral data

 An easy to use, automatic instrument. It provides objective, unbiased colour analysis by using optical cells. Thanks to its numerous colour scales, it can be used both in petrochemical and in food processing industries. To start the analysis the user must only press a single key. The test is completed within less than 25 seconds.

Applications: base instrument, enaling you to adda the scales you require
Color scales: CIE values, Spectral data

 An easy to use, automatic instrument. It provides objective, unbiased colour analysis. To start the analysis the user must only press a single key. The test is completed within less than 25 seconds. When printing results, the PFX880 will link with standard parallel printers. It gives results in terms of spectral data and CIE colour values; a range of additional colour scales, added by means of colour scale upgrades.

An easy to use, automatic instrument. It provides objective, unbiased colour analysis. To start the analysis the user must only press a single key. The test is completed within less than 25 seconds. When printing results, the PFX880 will link with standard parallel printers. The PFX 880/L version expresses colour in terms of Lovibond Colour scale, whereas the PFX880/AT version gives colour data according to the AOCS-Tintometer Colour scale. Used in particular for analysis of raw materials and processing operations.

Lovibond PFX 880/IP17, automatic spectrophotometer

Colour scales: Lovibond® RYBN, IP units, CIE values, Spectral data

An easy to use, automatic instrument. It provides objective, unbiased colour analysis. It has less colour scales compared to the other versions of the PFX 880 series. To start the analysis the user must only press a single key. The test is completed within less than 25 seconds.

A series of instruments designed for visual colour grading by direct comparison between the sample and two consecutive glasses viewed simultaneously. Fast and easy to use.
